When we talk about Estonia we talk of one of the three Baltic Republics but it is not just that. It is one of the most tax-free states in Europe and is on the forefront from a point of view of digital infrastructures.

A state that, together with Ireland, is a potential alternative to United Kingdom, now that the latter is facing a troubled period of uncertainty post Brexit. Member of the European Union since 2004, Estonia, is a fertile environment where professionals can operate at distance thanks to the project, unique in the world, of digital residency called e.residency.

But what does e.residency really mean? It is a real and effective digital residency. The digital resident can operate in Estonia even if he has never been there. It allows signing contracts, opening companies, opening and managing bank accounts, interacting with the public administration and so on.

Amongst the required options, in terms of motivations for the residency, there is also the choice to be “fan of the project”.

Once the request is made, it passes through an authority control and from a subsequent meeting at the local embassy or consulate abroad where in the end they assign the card.

The e.residency card doesn’t substitute in any way nor the physical residence nor the ID card but it is for sure an operative key of primary importance.

In the end Estonia is a Country from where you can develop connections with the other Baltic Republics such as Lithuania and Latvia or toward the Northern Countries such as Finland, Sweden, and Norway.
